Four-Gallon Stoneware Cream Jar with Large Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to E. Fowler, Beaver, PA origin, circa 1870, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with two thickly-brushed flowers extending from a leafy stem, applied over a slip-coated surface. Base with freehand cobalt "4" underscored by a stripe. 6 3/8" long X-shaped surface line under one handle, not visible on interior. 1 3/4" rim chip on reverse. Short, minor line in one handle. In-the-firing kiln furniture residue on top of rim.
