Stoneware Canning Jar, Stenciled "JAS. HAMILTON / GREENSBORO, PA," circa 1875, tapered jar with semi-rounded, wax sealer rim, the front decorated with James Hamilton maker's stenciling in a scrolled pattern. Interesting in-the-firing splatter of cobalt on reverse. Inverted 6 3/4" Y-shaped crack from rim on reverse. 3 1/2" crack from rim on left side of front. Salt drip near base on front. Contact mark at base on side of jar. 1 1/8" in-the-firing chip to rim. Two small, glazed-over chips on interior of rim. H 8 3/8".
