Profusely-Decorated Five-Gallon Stoneware Crock, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES / GREENSBORO, PA," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with various freehand cobalt designs, including multi-leaved stems, stripes, and graduated cobalt dashes. The stenciling "HAMILTON & JONES / GREENSBORO. PA" at the center, surrounding a stenciled tulip. Brushed cobalt five surrounded by dots at base. A fine and elaborately-decorated example of Greensboro stoneware. Approximately 5" x 3" missing and filled section on bottom. Underside painted black. Handle chip. H 13 3/4".
