Rare Small-Sized "HUNTINGTON CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY" WV Stoneware Wax Sealer, Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with recessed inner rim, stenciled in cobalt "THE HUNTINGTON CO-OPERATIVE / SOCIETY. / GROCERIES / & C. / 1009. THIRD AVENUE / HUNTINGTON WVA." A fine example of West Virginia advertising stoneware. Excellent condition. Base chip. Thin Albany slip or iron drip to front. Some very faint crazing to area below rim, presumably in-the-firing. Expected light wear to inner rim where a metal canning lid would fit. H 6 3/4".
