Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Dated "1852," Stamped "W.H. FARRAR & CO. / GEDDES, N.Y.," 1852, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a tulip plant with looping flourish below. Shoulder decorated with the date, "1852." Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Desirable size and strong decoration, including the rare addition of the jug's date of manufacture. An inverted fork-shaped line from spout on side of jug. Short line in base of handle. A 2 1/2" vertical line at base. Base chips. H 12".
