Two Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, White's Family, Utica, NY, third quarter 19th century, a two-gallon cylindrical jug with slip-trailed design of a pheasant with turned head, perched on a stylized stump, paired with a squat-shaped two-gallon jar with elaborate slip-trailed floral decoration, both with different White's Utica maker's marks. Jug with a large in-the-firing iron ping to reverse, two spout chips, some fry to cobalt, and small in-the-firing flaws to surface. Jar with a large base chip, a small base chip, a small Y-shaped line at base on reverse, a short line from rim on front, and an in-the-firing contact mark to shoulder, and minor staining. H (of jug) 14 1/4".
