Four-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Churn, Signed "Lanier Meaders," Cleveland, GA origin, early fourth quarter 20th century, ovoid form with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug and open vertical handle, the surface covered in a streaky olive-colored alkaline glaze. Underside incised with Lanier Meaders signature. Provenance: Carl and Marian Mullis Collection; Ex-William House; On long-term loan to Colonial Williamsburg, 2019 to 2023. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 16 5/8".
