Rare Stoneware Canning Jar with Cobalt Stripe Decoration, Stamped "N. COOPER & POWER. / MAYSVILLE .KY," Western PA origin, circa 1860, tapering jar with flared "wax sealer" rim and combed banding to midsection, decorated completely around the upper half with three freehand cobalt stripes. Midsection with impressed advertising for the firm of Maysville, KY merchant, Newton Cooper, and his son-in-law, Hugh Power. Chipping to outer rim. Three chips to inner wax sealer rim. A 3/4" surface line in exterior of rim. Some glazed-over, in-the-making scratches to one side. H 8 1/4".
