Rare and Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to James H. Miller, Brandenburg, KY, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with squared rim and distinctive extruded handles, brush-decorated with large, leafy stem bearing three flowers, below a series of conjoined ovals and a band of foliate motifs. Impressed 3 on reverse. Outstanding decoration, color, and condition. Among the best pieces featuring Miller's freehand decoration that we have offered. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 12 1/4".
