Two Half-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Stenciled "RICHEY & HAMILTON. / PALATINE.W.VA," circa 1875, a canning jar with "wax sealer" rim, with curved Richey & Hamilton maker's stenciling, paired with a cylindrical jar with Richey & Hamilton maker's stenciling surrounding stenciled scrollwork, including freehand wavy stripes at the shoulder. Canning jar in excellent condition with minor surface wear. Other jar with tight lines in underside and some light wear to surface and stenciling. H (of shorter example) 8 3/8".
