Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Churn, Northeastern U.S. origin, circa 1825, cylindrical form with flaring base, tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with a freehand "3." Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Includes wooden dasher and wooden lid. A chip and minor nick to exterior of rim. A small rim chip and other minor rim chips. Staining to surface. A large, glazed-over in-the-firing iron ping at base. Hairlines throughout underside, including two extending onto base. A small glazed-over base and other minor chipping to base, most of which is glazed over. H (excluding dasher) 16 5/8".
