Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Impressed Drape Decoration, attributed to Frederick Carpenter, Charlestown, MA, early 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and open loop handles, decorated with three impressed and cobalt-highlighted drape motifs on the front and reverse. Iron-oxide wash to rim and tops of handles. Some exfoliation to shoulder on one side. A glazed-over base chip. Two rim chips. Typical in-the-firing flaws/residue to surface. H 12 3/4".
