Scarce One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug with Elizabeth, PA Distillers' Advertising, Stamped "F.H. COWDEN / HARRISBURG," PA origin, circa 1880, ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "WEAVER & SON / DISTILLERS / ELIZABETHVILLE PA / NOT TO BE SOLD." Cobalt brushwork to handle terminals. A thin 4" crack to shoulder area on reverse. Minor spout wear. A base chip beside a small U-shaped crack. Staining to surface. Some wear or fry to cobalt. A glazed-over iron ping to reverse. H 11 1/2".
