Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Double-Bird Decoration, Stamped "S. HART. / FULTON.," NY State origin, circa 1860, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of crossed birds with spotted details, perched atop a looping flourish. Slip-trailed "2" with flourish to left of birds. Slip-trailed stripes to maker's mark. Spots of fry throughout cobalt. A 3 1/4" Y-shaped line to left side of jug, emanating from a minor surface flake. Two small, glazed-over iron pings to reverse. Staining to surface. H 13".
