Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "R.W. RUSSELL", Beaver, PA origin, circa 1865, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated with two brushed fuchsias emanating from a curving vine, applied over slip-coated clay. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Some light wear to surface. A small in-the-firing iron ping to base on reverse. Minor chips to inner rim for lid. A 7/8" in-the-firing contact mark to reverse. A 3/4" in-the-firing contact mark below one handle terminal.
