Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1875, ovoid pitcher with footed base and tooled collar, decorated with a two-stemmed tulip plant motif extending up the front. Additional swag accents to left, right, and center of design. Cobalt swag decoration to collar. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: From a recently-surfaced NC collection, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Excellent condition with two small, in-the-firing base chips, one of which is glazed over, a faint 1 3/4" inverted T-shaped line at base, and a few small in-the-firing flaws to surface.
