One-Gallon Salt-Glazed Stoneware Syrup Jug with Eatontown, NJ Advertising, possibly Fulper Pottery, Flemington, NJ, circa 1880, squat-shaped jug with flared pouring spout, the front incised with the cobalt-highlighted advertising, "Herbert & Harvey, / Grocers, / Eatontown, / N.J.". Surface covered in a salt glaze with Albany slip to upper half and unusual Rockingham-like glaze to interior. Unusual form. Rim and spout chips. Two adjacent chips to side of handle, measuring a total of 1 3/8" and a 3/4" chip to opposite side of handle.
