Unusual Large-Sized Stoneware Canning Jar with Cobalt Tulip Decoration, possibly Boughner Family, Greensboro, PA, circa 1865, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and tapered rim with wax sealer interior, decorated with a large brushed tulip emanating from a leafy stem. Freehand stripes at shoulder and base. Provenance: Collection of Lorren Lambert, Staunton, VA. A large, partially-restored network of cracks at base, extending onto underside. A faint, unrestored 2 1/2" line at base, extending onto underside. Chips to rim and inner wax sealer rim. H 11 1/4".
