Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "BELMONT AVE. POTTERY," Newark, NJ, circa 1880, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, applid lug handles, and squared rim, decorated with bright cobalt design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Staining around bottom half of jar. Long, tight horizontal line at base. Small chips to interior of rim. Nicks and wear to inner rim, where a lid would rest.
