Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Folky Cobalt Human Profile, Midwestern origin, circa 1850-1880, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a human bust with combed-back hair and striped shirt with upturned collar and buttoned front. Slip-trailed "3" below rim. Significant restoration to right side of crock's front and right side of crock itself, including right handle. Fry to heavier areas of cobalt. A minor chip and nick to opposite handle.
