Scarce Five-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Profuse Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT.," circa 1855, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a very large slip-trailed design of a flowering plant with scrolled stems and four blossoms accented with stripes and spots. Significant restoration to crock, involving a few areas of decoration. A few small chips to interior of rim. A small handle chip.
