Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Stenciled Eagle and Banner Motif, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1875, semi-ovoid jug with nicely-tooled spout, decorated with a stenciled cobalt Federal eagle carrying olive branches and arrows, and holding a banner in its beak, which reads "STAR" for "Star Pottery". Y-shaped crack in underside, extending up side of jug. Chip to shoulder molding. Faint horizontal line in handle. H 11 1/2".
