Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Date and Wreath, Stamped "J.A. & C.W. UNDERWOOD. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," 1867, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed cobalt wreath surrounding the date "1867" underscored with a flourish. Shallow chip on edge of underside, possibly in-the-firing. Glazed-over stone ping to right side of front. Stone ping on left side under one handle. Chip to rim. Faint Y-shaped surface line on reverse.
