Important James G. Blaine 1884 Presidential Campaign Redware Mug, possibly Midwestern origin, large-sized, barrel-form mug with tooled bands, rounded foot, and strap handle, the front incised "BLAINE AND LOGAN 1884". This unusual political piece refers to James G. Blaine and John A. Logan, the Republican Presidential Ticket of 1884, which would lose to Grover Cleveland and Adlai Stevenson I. Surface covered in a speckled reddish-brown lead-and-manganese glaze. Chips and wear to rim. Some wear to surface. Some chips to interior base. H 5 3/4".
