Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Freehand Decoration, Stenciled "Hamilton & Jones," Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and midsection, decorated top-to-bottom with freehand vining and several stripes. The words "Hamilton & Jones" stenciled in large letters across the midsection. Stenciled "2" flanked by foliate designs at base. 5 3/4" vertical crack from rim. 4 3/4" vertical crack from rim on side of jar. 5" crack from rim on reverse. 4" vertical hairline near base. Tiny nick to bottom of rim molding. H 12 1/4".
