Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Spittoon, Baltimore, MD origin, third quarter 19th century, with tooled foot and carved oval opening in shoulder, decorated around the shoulder with a series of brushed cobalt swags. Chipping to opening at shoulder. Chips to base. Pieces of in-the-firing salt residue to one side. Lines on top surface. Bloated spot to shoulder. H 3 1/4" ; Diameter 7 1/2".
