Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Pitcher, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1870, ovoid-bodied pitcher with flared base and collar, decorated in brushed cobalt slip with a double-stemmed clover design. Unusual additional clover brushwork on sides of pitcher. Cobalt brushwork flanking spout and clover brushwork on each side of collar. Three large pieces are broken and reglued at base and on underside. Some slivers of clay are missing where the pieces are reglued. Small base chips and one large base chip, measuring 1 1/4". Spout chips. Two contact marks on left side of pitcher. H 10 3/8".
