Two-Gallon Stoneware "Butter" Crock Dated 1849, Stamped "H D BROOKMAN / 37 SOUTH ST NY," New York origin, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated with the word "Butter" in cobalt script and the date "1849" on the reverse. Broken into pieces and reglued with some filler along breaks. 5/8" piece reglued on the "r" in "Butter." Rim chips. H 8 3/4".
