Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, James River, VA origin, second quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt flower on the front and back. Heavy chipping to one handle. Two small chips to opposite handle. 3 1/4" and 1 1/4" flakes to rim. Additional rim chip. 3 1/2" Y-shaped line on one side, which does not go through to interior. Salt glob on underside. H 14 1/4".
