Very Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher, Stamped "WM H. ERNEST, / WASHINGTON, D.C.," circa late 1880's, with semi-ovoid body and flared collar with two tooled lines, impressed below the spout with the very rare D.C. maker's mark of William H. Ernest, who potted on Georgia Ave. SE, now Potomac Ave. Restored handle. 2 3/4" salt drip on reverse. Stone ping on rim. H 10 3/4".
