Five-Gallon "R.T. WILLIAMS" Stoneware Crock with Heavy Freehand Cobalt Decoration, New Geneva, PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with freehand cobalt vining, straight and wavy stripes, and dashes, surrounding the stenciling "R.T. WILLIAMS. / MANUFACTURER. / NEW GENEVA. / PA." Unusual graduated freehand dashes flank the maker's stenciling. Stenciled 5 with small stenciled tulips at base. Excellent condition with a small handle chip and light fry to cobalt. H 16".
