Six-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Profuse Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "E. FOWLER / BEAVER. PA," circa 1870, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with four very large flowers extending from a windy stem. Brushed cobalt stripes at rim and a brushed cobalt "6" between additional stripes at base. An excellent example of Fowler stoneware. Professional restoration to crack extending from rim on reverse and a short distance onto underside. Small base chip. Two in-the-firing touch marks to front. H 15 3/8".
