Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with rounded rim, and heavily-tooled midsection, decorated with freehand cobalt stripes and vining, along with a large script cobalt 2 flanked by dashes. A good example of Western PA freehand decoration. A 3/8" shallow flake to surface on left side of jar's front, and a 3/8" stone pop on right side of jar's front. A 3/4" manufacturing flaw on front, which is covered in cobalt. Thin 3 1/2" crack on underside, extending onto base of jar, where it measures approximately 6" horizontally. H 12".
