Rare Glazed Redware Figure of a Lion, PA origin, mid 19th century, hand-modeled, lead-glazed figure of a reclining lion on base with applied mane, curving tail, and deeply-incised details to face, mane, tail and paws. Wonderful facial expression. For similar examples, see Garvan, The Pennsylvania German Collection, p.???. One rear leg lost during the firing. Figure reglued to base. Chips to ears. Chip to corner of base. H 4 1/2" ; Length 5 1/2".
