Six-Quart Stoneware Batter Pail with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "EVAN. R JONES / PITTSTON. PA.," circa 1875, ovoid form with tubular pouring spout, handle at base on reverse, and applied clay tabs with wood-and-wire bail handle, brush-decorated on the reverse with a large horizontal flower featuring a circular blossom. Cobalt band around spout and highlights to the maker's mark, capacity mark, and applied clay tabs. A small chip to spout and minor worn spot to spout. Wear to top of one applied tab at shoulder. A salt drip to reverse. A very minor in-the-making line to handle at base on reverse. H 10 1/2".
