Rare Glazed Redware Jug, Stamped "J. CAREY & CO.," Shippensburg, PA origin, mid 19th century, highly-ovoid jug with footed base, tooled spout, and ribbed strap handle, the surface covered in a dark-brown lead-and-manganese glaze. Underside impressed with "J CAREY" maker's mark. A 3/8" hole drilled in underside. Base chips. A large flake and other wear to edges of handle. Chips and wear to spout. A 3/4" flake to shoulder. Surface wear. H 7".
