One-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Wreath Decorated and "1870" Date, Stamped "WEST TROY. / N.Y. / POTTERY.," NY State origin, 1870, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a lyre-shaped wreath surrounding the date, "1870." Cobalt accents to maker's mark. Desirable size. Provenance: Purchased by the consignor in December 1994 from Ernie Graf of Saratoga Springs, NY. A T-shaped crack on underside becoming a professionally-restored top-to-bottom crack to right of decoration. Some additional professional restoration below decoration on front with two short, thin cracks extending through it from underside. H 7 1/8".
