Three-Gallon Manchester, N.H. Stoneware Advertising Jug with Cobalt Parrot Decoration, attributed to F.B. Norton, Worcester, MA, circa 1858-1877, semi-ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a crested parrot perched in the crook of two leaves. Shoulder impressed with the cobalt-highlighted advertising, "A. M. EASTMAN / MANCHESTER N. H.," below a cobalt-highlighted three-gallon capacity mark. A spider crack descending from spout area to midsection. A glazed-over flake to interior of spout. Some fry to cobalt. Streaks of staining to surface. H 15 3/4".
