Very Rare Stoneware Jar with Brown-Slip Horse Decoration, Midwestern origin, circa 1850-1880, wide-bodied, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and flattened rim, brush-decorated in Albany slip with a stylized design of a striped horse or zebra. Excellent condition with two small chips and light wear to interior of rim. The brushed design of the horse's head is extremely faint. H 9 7/8".
