Two Stoneware Advertising Match Safes, attributed to the White's Pottery, Utica, NY, late 19th or early 20th century, both with cobalt highlights, one with two-sided advertising for "AMERICAN / BREW. CO. / ROCHESTER, / N.Y." within a shield with flying eagle; the other with the two-sided advertising "WESTCOTT & PARKER / DEALERS IN / COAL / & / WOOD. / OPPOSITE CITY HALL / TELEPHONE 236. / UTICA, / N.Y." Brewery match safe with a 7/8" base chip, a short line to rim, and an X-shaped surface line to interior wall. Coal and wood match safe with staining, in otherwise excellent condition. H (of taller) 3 1/8".
