Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "T.F. REPPERT / SUCCESSOR / TO / JAS. HAMILTON & CO. / GREENSBORO, PA.," circa 1880, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, featuring desirable "T.F. REPPERT / SUCCESSOR / TO / JAS HAMILTON & CO." maker's stenciling flanked by stenciled tulips. Decorated with freehand stripes below rim and at base. Unusual placement of a freehand "3" flanked by flourishes at the shoulder as opposed to base. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A tight X-shaped crack on underside forming a long T at base. Grease residue to surface. H 14".
