Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Bird Decoration, CT origin, circa 1815, ovoid jug with footed base and heavily-tooled spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a ring-necked bird perched on a stylized leaf. Incised and cobalt-highlighted "4" above. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Restoration to spout. A restored 1 3/4" base chip. A few small base chips. Some typical in-the-firing flaws to surface. H 17 1/4".
