Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Bird Decoration, Stamped "I. SEYMOUR / TROY.FACTORY," NY State origin, circa 1830, highly-ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a long-billed bird resembling a crow, perched on a flourish. Cobalt accents to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: Recently surfaced in the Northeastern U.S. Significant sealed spider crack in underside, continuing partway up body of jug in five places. H 15 1/2".
