Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Parrot Decoration, Stamped "F.B. NORTON & CO / WORCESTER, MASS.," circa 1870, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a crested parrot perched between two crossed leaves, one accented with spots, the other accented with graduated slashes. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A large area of restoration to base area on right side, extending onto reverse. Some light fry to cobalt. Chips to interior of rim. A 3" crack on underside. A minor glazed-over ping on reverse. H 11 1/8".
