Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "RIEDINGER & CAIRE / POUGHKEEPSIE-NY," circa 1870, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and flared collar with semi-rounded rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a fan-tailed bird perched on a stylized branch. A 2" diagonal, inverted Y-shaped hairline from rim on reverse. Nicks and wear to interior of rim. Staining throughout. A 7/8" hairline on underside, extending 2 7/8" up reverse. H 12 1/4".
