Exceptional Glazed Redware Mug, Stamped "JOHN BELL," Waynesboro, PA, circa 1840-1880, cylindrical form with stepped base and tooled rim, the surface coated in a cream-colored slip, profusely-decorated with manganese sponging, and covered in a clear lead glaze. Underside impressed with John Bell maker's mark. Among the most attractively-glazed John Bell mugs of this form that we have offered. Excellent, essentially as-made condition, retaining a brilliant luster, a condition rarely found on this form. H 4 1/8".
