Outstanding Multi-Glazed Redware Crimped-Rim Vase, attributed to J. Eberly & Co., Strasburg, VA, circa 1890, ovoid vase with pronounced foot, slender neck, and flared rim with crimped edge, the surface decorated with cream-colored slip and splashed copper and manganese under a clear lead glaze. Featuring an exceptional form, smaller and more-delicately-potted than most Strasburg vases that we have seen, this work is also noteworthy for its finely-crimped rim, an uncommon treatment in Strasburg multi-glazed redware. Very nice condition with small rim chips, minor surface wear, a short vertical hairline to base, a very minor base chip, and some old residue to base. H 9 1/2".
