Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to the Thompson Pottery, Morgantown, WV, circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and angled rim molding, brush-decorated with a looping stem bearing two flowers and a series of leaves, descending from a freehand stripe. Two-gallon Thompson pottery capacity mark on reverse. Heavy chipping to interior of rim. A crack across underside, connecting to a long horizontal crack at base on reverse. An additional short hairline on underside. H 11 7/8".
