Six-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "R.T. WILLIAMS. / NEW GENEVA. PA.," circa 1880, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, featuring R.T. Williams maker's stenciling, freehand straight and wavy stripes, and a freehand 6 flanked by diagonal dashes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A chip to one handle. Some spots of light surface wear to reverse and one to side. A few in-the-firing burns. A few in-the-firing contact marks (shallow chips) to rim. Rim is out-of-round. H 16 1/4".
