Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Dated 1852, Stamped "JORDAN.," New York State origin, 1852, narrow-bodied, cylindrical jug with tall neck and semi-squared spout, brush-decorated with two conjoined tulips below the date, "1852," and a freehand "2." Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. A rarely-seen dated example with appealing bottle-like form. Excellent condition with some minor surface crazing to the exterior of the jug's mouth and a 1/2" shallow chip to interior of spout. H 15 1/2".
